Hunan University of Chinese Medicine (HUCM) is a public university that was established in 1934 and is situated in Changsha. In 1960, Hunan Medical College was renamed Hunan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is one of the first accredited medical institutions in China to recruit international students and students from Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan. The institution provides 21 undergraduate majors in five disciplines: Medicine, Science, Engineering, Management Science, and Literature.

MBBS Fees Structure 2025-2026:

The annual cost of Hunan University of Chinese Medicine (HUCM) for the six-year medicine (MBBS) program is 20,600 RMB (USD 2860/year), which includes tuition and accommodation expenses. The overall cost of a complete six-year medical degree is 136,000 RMB, equivalent to around US $18,500.

This fee does not include dining expenditures or travel expenses (airfares). The average food expenses at Hunan University of Chinese Medicine are 1000 RMB per month (USD 150). The cost of air tickets (one way) varies from 4000 RMB to 7000 RMB, depending on your departure destination.

HUCM Scholarships:

The Hunan University of Chinese Medicine has different types of scholarships for international students pursuing bachelor’s degrees (including MBBS), master’s degrees, and PhD degrees.

The Excellent Student scholarship (funded by the provincial government) is 15,000 RMB offered annually to the top 20% of students who are pursuing a bachelor’s degree in clinical medicine (MBBS).

Hunan University of Chinese Medicine is providing the Freshman Scholarship, which includes a remission for tuition and housing, for students from CEALC countries or those from countries that have not previously registered at HUCM. Students who qualify for scholarships are ultimately selected based on merit by the university.

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. International students must adhere to the specified entrance criteria to seek admission to the Medicine (MBBS) program at Hunan University of Chinese Medicine.

    • Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens.
    • International students must submit documentation by September 30, 2025.
    • A minimum of 65% of marks in senior high school, HSSC/WAEC/A-levels, or grade 12.
    • The age limit to apply is 18–29 years.
    • Applicants must be healthy (physically and mentally).
    • Applicant must be fluent in English.

Admission Requirements:

The following are the admission requirements and details of documents for international students applying to the Medicine Program (MBBS) at Hunan University of Chinese Medicine (HUCM).

  • Senior High School Transcript or Statement of Result (with the official stamp).
  • Senior High school diploma or equivalent certificate.
  • Passport within the validity period.
  • Digital Photo in a white background (Format: JPG, 100-500KB).
  • Foreigner Physical Examination Form.
  • Police Character Certificate (non-Criminal report).
  • A self-introduction video (3-5 minutes, no more than 50 MB) must be in English.

Hunan University of Chinese Medicine will thoroughly review your introduction video. Upon deciding that the introductory video is flawless, the HUCM admission officials will conduct the online interview on Tencent Meeting or VOOV meeting software. Admission Schedule and Deadline:

MBBS admissions are open for Hunan University of Chinese Medicine for the September-December 2025 batches. The deadline for the December 2025 batch is September 30, 2025. A total of 60 seats are available. The commencement of the class is scheduled for December 10th.

Hunan University of Chinese Medicine Fee Structure 2025-2026:

The annual fee for the MBBS Program at Hunan University of Chinese Medicine is 20,600 RMB (approximately 850,000 PKR) per year; tuition and housing costs are included. The estimated food expenses are approximately 1,000 RMB per month, which is about 40,000 PKR.

HSK Exam Policy:

The first year will be Chinese language study, and students must pass HSK-4 (Chinese language test) to be promoted to the MBBS Degree of 5 years, including the Clinical Internship. To obtain a Clinical Medicine (MBBS) degree at Hunan University of Chinese Medicine, HSK-5 is required before graduation.

Internship:

Last year will be the internship year. According to the rules and regulations of the Ministry of Education of China, Students will do internships in China. It is Mandatory for all students studying MBBS at Hunan University of Chinese Medicine.

Is it Compulsory to Pass HSK-4 in the 1st year to promote in MBBS ?

Yes. It is compulsory to pass the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK-4) in the first year to be promoted to the MBBS Program for 5 years. HSK-5 to pass before graduation is also mandatory.

Yes, Hunan University of Chinese Medicine is approved by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC).
