Guangxi Medical University was established in 1934 and is located in Nanning, the capital of Guangxi Province. The university is one of the first in China to accept an English medical education program for international students, which is limited to Clinical medicine (MBBS). GXMU has also educated and trained over 1,000 international students from 70 countries and regions.
Guangxi Medical University is one of the 44 universities in China that are designated by the Ministry of Education as offering Clinical Medicine (MBBS) in English. Additionally, it has been approved by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC), the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BM&DC), and NMC India.
Guangxi Medical University is recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO), WDOMS, IMED, ECFMG, WFME, and WCAME. Students who graduated from Guangxi Medical University are eligible to apply for USMLE, UKMLE/PLAB, GMC, AMC, DHA, SMLE, and almost all the medical licensing certifications abroad.
It currently has four campuses: Nanning-Main Campus, Nanning-Wuming Campus, Nanning-Wuxiang Campus (under construction), and Yulin Campus, covering a total area of about 3,300 acres. International students Studying Medicine at Guangxi Medical University study basic medical subjects on the Wuming campus, and once they finish the fifth semester, they relocate to the main campus in Nanning.
The teaching staff of Guangxi Medical University is of high quality, and the students are of excellent quality and come from a wide range of sources. The university has 3,346 faculty members, including 2,436 full-time teachers, 1,234 of whom hold doctoral degrees. Currently, more than 200 international students from different countries are studying clinical medicine (MBBS) in English. It was one of the first 30 medical universities approved by the Ministry of Education of China (MOE) to accept international students and teach clinical medicine (MBBS) in English.
Students are mainly from India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Botswana, Liberia, Jamaica, Thailand, Lao PDR, Cambodia, and other African and Arabic countries.
The Clinical Medicine MBBS (English-taught) Program at Guangxi Medical University consists of a six-year curriculum, including five years of medical education followed by a sixth year of compulsory internship. The student will get a six-year degree of MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery). Students must pass HSK Level 4 before the internship year.
The annual cost of the English-medium MBBS program at Guangxi Medical University is 41,000 RMB ($5700), which covers both tuition and accommodation charges.
The MBBS fees for Pakistani students at Guangxi Medical University are 1.6 million PKR, including both tuition and accommodation costs for four students sharing a room. International students may remit tuition and lodging fees each semester in two installments, depending upon the school’s policy.
The fee for the Clinical Medicine (Chinese/Bilingual) program is 34,000 RMB/year ($4750), which includes the tuition fee of 28,000 RMB/year and hostel fee of 6000 RMB/year.
This cost does not include the food and traveling expenses. Food expenses usually range from 1000 to 1200 RMB per month ($150), while travel expenses (airfare) generally range from 5000 to 7000 RMB, depending on the country from which one is traveling to Guangxi.

The admission agents are engaging in fraud by falsely claiming that the applicant is enrolling in the English-taught MBBS program. However, they will ultimately enroll the applicant in the Chinese-taught Clinical Medicine program.
Guangxi Medical University has 5 directly affiliated hospitals, 10 non-directly affiliated hospitals, and 13 clinical practice bases. The First Affiliated Hospital was selected as one of the first national clinical teaching and training demonstration centers.
For many years, Chinese authorities have rated the Guangxu Medical School as an advanced unit for overseas study. It has become a training school for overseas study bases in the China-ASEAN Open Pilot Zone.
